The perfect burger!

This is the first of many recipes that we're planning to share with you! We hope you'll enjoy trying them out! Please email us and let us know what you thought.

We think these homemade burgers are much better than anything you can buy at the supermarket. They only take 30 mins to prepare.

Serves 4

For the burger:

  • 540g/1lb3oz minced beef
  • 25g/1oz chopped coriander
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1tsb dijon mustard
  • 1 free-range egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper

The trimmings:

  • 4 slices mature Cheddar (or even Stilton for that added kick)
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • half an iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 4 ciabatta rolls
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 beef tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices mature Cheddar

What to do....

1 Place the burger ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Using your hands, mould into four equal sized patties.

2 Preheat the grill to hot. Cook the burgers under the grill for 15 mins, or until cooked through, burning once.

3 Top each burger with a slice of cheese towards the end of the cooking time.

4 Before serving, mix together the mayonnaise and lettuce. Cut the ciabatta rolls in half and toast under the grillon both sides.

5 Top the bottom halves of the ciabatta rolls with the lettuce and mayonnaise, followed by a slice of tomato.

6 Arrange the burger and cheese on otop of the ciabatta, followed by a slice of tomato.

7 Arrange the burger and cheese on top of the ciabatta, followed by a slice of red onion. Top each burger with the other halves of the ciabatta rolls and enjoy...!
