We set up the company in 1985; my father Peter, my mother and I. Our family home in Scarrington, Nottinghamshire formed our base and the whole family pitched in. It all started when my father and I took eight jumpers each and headed north on the motorway, him to the east; me to the west. We came back armed with orders and bursting with pride, and Peter Gribby Ltd was born.

It wasn't long before the house was awash with knitwear, frequently forcing me to make do with the sofa when night fell as my own bed was piled high. As independent retailers increasingly clamoured for our lines it was clear no family member's bed was safe, so we decamped to larger premises in Bottesford and have steadily expanded ever since.

My father retired in 1997 and, together with my brother Stephen, I took over the day-to-day running of the business. We moved a further four times over the next 14 years, eventually settling in our 'home for life' in Whatton on 2010's hottest day. These purpose-built premises represent 25 years of hard work and passion, while their position in the picturesque Vale of Belvoir helps maintain our rural heritage.

The Peter Gribby team is larger these days, and we offer a more comprehensive and co-ordinated collection of casual knitwear and shirts, also including the fine Carducci formal shirt brand. But we remain a family business both at heart and in ethos, not to mention in practise - my daughter regularly gets roped in to help during the holidays, though she does get to sleep in her own bed!

Our success and growth over the last quarter of a century comes down to two basic principles: first-class quality and the right price. We're committed to our customers and are proud of our relationships with respected menswear retailers, and will do all we can to ensure your experience with us surpasses your expectations at every stage.
